In one of the lectures about benefit realization management, our instructor asked if you did any BRM analysis before enrolling for the course? This triggered an interesting debate that the process of benefit identification, execution and sustainability can be applied on a very wide scope. It can be at a personal level, it can can be at a small startup level with only a few projects and it can very well be a multi billion enterprise having multiple portfolios, programs and projects.
Every initiative will have consequences. If the cost is subtracted from the consequential benefit, whatever is left of the is the value. It may well be a disbenefit if the cost overruns but it still is a class of benefit.
