Project Portfolio Management Office


Project Portfolio Management Office sometimes refereed as Project Office is quite vital to the overall portfolio. If portfolio can be imaged as a human body and arms or feet are the resources available, project office may well be considered the brain. If walking is the goal, each leg and foot will initiate the project but two legs working independently will need to be coordinated from the brain.

Project office acts as a liaison between Portfolio managers and Project Managers. It's role may include:
  • Perfecting the feedback loop between Project and Portfolio managers
  • Maintaining strategic depth in all on going projects.
  • Align all  projects to a focal point
  • Develop a top down understanding of the whole system
  • Eliminate waste and ensure efficiency 
 Project Office can be at different levels. In this picture, each level it's own project office.
